Artistmum is an artist who is also a mom (my little cherubs call me ‘mum’). Ever since I could hold a crayon I remember drawing faces and animals. I loved drawing so much that I often got in trouble in school because I was so engrossed in drawing on my paper bag covered books. I remember being moved away from my best friend because we were drawing and whispering instead of taking a nap on our ‘rest’ rugs. Some things you just never forget!
Art was put aside while I finished college and landed a job in the fashion industry. It was a very awesome career but I NEVER had time to paint or draw. It wasn’t until I returned to college years later (and after raising three kids) to get my Masters degree that I drenched myself in art. I was able to paint, draw, sculpt and collage my little heart out……………just couldn’t get enough:-)
I received a super degree (M.A.T.) with an impressive 4.0 GPA. Couldn’t believe I got through all that studying. Taking 26 credits at one point with no time to rest was a bit overwhelming. Whew!
I’m a teacher (in several different schools) sharing what I know with my students. I love my job(s) and I think my enthusiasm for making art inspires my students as well.
My kids (God bless their little hearts) encouraged me to start a blog about what I love the best and that’s creating art! So here I am, stumbling along the way no less, writing about my art processes. Now every time I have an idea, I think about how I could present it in my blog.
My intent is to write about all types of art processes that I have learned and want to share (with photographs included of course)! Strengths include wire sculpture and oil painting although I also make watercolor paintings, clay sculptures, collages, mixed media pieces, and drawings.
I might also mention that I used to design lingerie and sewed a lot, therefore some of my blogs will be peppered with just a few sewing projects or a little bit of original craft ideas. I promise I’ll try to stay on course with the art but don’t say I didn’t warn you about the other stuff!
So please be a little patient with my posts. Remember that creating art takes time….time to think, time to gather materials, time to plan it all out, time to make the art, time to photograph each step, and of course time to write the blog. It’s almost like having another job!
I’m kinda liking this 🙂
