The snow that we have been having has upset our schedule so we missed one day of art club. In our second session, I showed the students how to use the pastels in a different way for another effect.
The pastels will give you a different look just by the way they are held and pressed against the paper. Using the edge will produce a line effect. Laying the pastel down flat and pushing it across the page will give color to a larger space.
We also used water and brushes after filling in some color on the paper. This produces a watercolor effect. Students can then go back into the picture with a dry pastel and ‘accent’ parts of the picture.
