Wow! I cannot believe that we are halfway through our doll workshop already. I have to say that I am pleased that the girls are still totally engaged in their projects. We are moving along and of course, still sewing!
The girls are learning patience as well as a few new stitches along the way. Sometimes the seams aren’t quite straight so we try again! Sometimes the thread gets knotted, so we un-knot the thread! Yes……this is also a lesson in patience and we all know how much we all need some more of this!
I am generating a ‘Basic Hand Sewing Techniques’ guide that the girls will get to take home. They will learn how to do all of the stitches mentioned and may or may not use them in their designs but they might want to keep them for future reference.
The girls continued the dresses and pants they started. We are making a holiday dress, a pair of jeans (pants), a top or shirt, a jacket, and a Halloween cape or skirt.
One of the girls said that this was her most favorite club! Some have asked if there would be another doll workshop in the spring. Most certainly YES! I would, however, have them make a different type of doll and perhaps make some accessories such as a blanket and pillow or a sleeping bag. We’ll see!
As I prepare for each week, my little mischievous helper, Beanie, always has to get involved too! The girls giggled when I shared the photo of him ‘helping’!
