ArtistMum: Juicy Tuesdays and Thursdays!

This post has nothing to do with art at all but I had to blab about something! But if I can stretch it a little….ha ha……the color of the juice was so pretty! Could use it in a watercolor right?

This morning ‘Darling’ and I made an agreement that every Tuesday and Thursday, we would have a juice day!
Hence the name ‘Juicy Tuesday’ and ”Juicy Thursday’!

I took almost every fruit and vegetable on hand and juiced them into one ‘juicy’, yummy tasting drink. We will have this juice for all of our meals today πŸ˜ƒ with a salad too of course!

Here’s what I put into the juice:

1 granny smith green apple
1 beet
1 handful of strawberries
1 fresh pineapple
1 peach
2 handfuls of baby carrots

Next time I have to have more greens to add like spinach or kale!

We also have been having a glass of lemon juice with unsulfured blackstrap molasses every morning for about a week now. I juice one lemon and divide that up between two glasses, then I add one tablespoon of the molasses to each glass and add ice cold water. This is our morning tonic!

The health benefits of lemon are undeniably amazing. First of all, even though lemon is acidic, once it’s in your body it makes your body more alkaline, therefore making you less likely to get sick πŸ˜ƒ
Here’s a quick lowdown of how great lemons are to your body:

1. They can prevent disease and assist in cleansing the body of impurities.
2. Help eliminate waste more efficiently
3. Can relieve asthma
4. Stimulates the liver- dissolves uric acid and other poisons trapped in the liver
5. It nourishes the brain and nerve cells
6. Helps get rid of visceral fat
7. Helps lower blood pressure

And the health benefits of unsulphured blackstrap molasses are equally amazing! This incredible food contains trace elements that we do not get nearly enough on a daily basis. Magnesium is great for the heart. Calcium is great for bone health. Iron aids in making red blood cells and gives you energy. Now who doesn’t need a little extra boost during the day? This claim might be a little far fetched but this food also contains copper which can reverse graying hair! Fancy that!

Once I read all the good things that this food can do for you, I had to get some! It has a very pungent taste but mixing it with the lemon juice and water really helps. Even ‘Darling’ doesn’t mind it and he’s a VERY picky one πŸ˜–

I tried to link up the benefits of blackstrap molasses but it didn’t work so I’m quoting the information below from naturalandorganicfoodtips.com.

The Health Benefits of Blackstrap Molasses
“Blackstrap molasses is great for people who have glucose or blood-sugar level issues since it has a low glycemic index. This means that the glucose and carbohydrates in the molasses are broken down much slower than in processed sugars, meaning that they require much less insulin for the body to process and are therefore healthier for those with blood-sugar issues such as diabetes.

Blackstrap is also high in iron, which is a vital mineral used by the body in its production of red blood cells. It is this high iron content that makes blackstrap a great choice for those whom are trying to overcome anemia. Anemia is a disease that causes red blood cells to shrink in number and surface area, and is usually treated with iron supplements. However, these iron supplements tend to cause nausea and constipation for people with sensitive stomachs. Blackstrap is a healthy natural alternative for people looking to boost their iron intake without dealing with the side effects that artificial treatments invariably provide.

Two additional minerals present in blackstrap molasses are magnesium and calcium. Magnesium and calcium work together to ensure proper bone strength and growth. Magnesium also plays a role in regulating heart health and greatly reduces the risk of a heart attack.”

As a Holistic Cure
“Due to its many uses, blackstrap molasses is one of the most widely used holistic cures among the natural healing community. It can be used to treat many ailments, including arthritis, acne, joint pain, constipation, anxiety, and heart palpitations. Blackstrap is also great for treating cardiovascular disease due to its chromium content. Chromium washes away fatty build-ups in veins and arteries that can cause deadly blood clots.

Less orthodox uses of blackstrap include using it to treat hemorrhoids, and, thanks to its copper content, using it to reverse graying hair. Although these claims may seem far-fetched, the truth is that countless people are using blackstrap to successfully treat a variety of ailments.

Made from the juice of pure cane sugar, blackstrap molasses is an excellent alternative to other artificially processed sugars. It also has a variety of minerals that provide various health benefits, making it a great addition to any healthy diet.”

Don’t forget that the molasses has to be UNSULPHURED BLACKSTRAP molasses. I found mine in Mrs. Green’s Market.

So you can see why our little morning tonic is important to us. We are trying anything to keep the aging process at bay!
